Donner HUSH™ I Acoustic-Electric Travel Guitar

It is great for playing practise in Hotels I am just getting used to it at the moment but find the action a little high. The only down side is remembering to remove the battery.

My first headless. It feels wierd. I keep expecting my hand to drop off the end. I will get used to it. Good feel, good sound or none as you wish.

This is a great guitar for the money - it's well made and well thought out. Even the gig bag that it comes with is high quality. It would be handy if it had an onboard tuner but other than that I don't think it could be much better. It is comfortable to hold, unlike some other travel guitars I have tried; quick to assemble and is very light. I love it.

Good piece of kit

I received my hush guitar within 3 days of purchase. It was playable from the box, but the action was high and some of the open chords were out of tune. I have some experience with guitar set-ups and was able to adjust the truss rod, and file the bridge saddle to a height that was more acceptable. It now playes great, and I'm more than happy with the quality and performance.

Generally well built and delivers what it promises. Controls are slightly fiddly (being under the metal frame). The guitar element is nicely made although the action is high, the frame could be improved: Maybe slightly larger in size - not full strat dimensions but definitely a little bigger than it is now. The lower frame is definitely too small and could be wider at the point of contact on the players leg - currently it's inclined to slip around. The dual strap idea is a gimmick. Playability is OK once the action has been sorted. I got offered a special deal and bought one for fun, would I pay full advertised price..? Unlikely.

Purchased because of good reviews. However disappointed with mine. Action to high and could do with better quality strings. The sound through the headphones was poor, despite being tuned. In an attempt to improve things and meet my expectations of this instrument I have sent to a luthier to hopefully correct things. This has cost me an extra £60!

Awkward to tune, action quite high, nowhere to clip the tuner, Alan keys don't really fit the bolts I was also hoping it would have ¼" jack socket, but can't complain about that as it didn't promise to have one. Ear plugs won't stay in my ears, but it could be my ears that are the problem! Sound is okay and it's a nice compact size.

I am a senior beginner who purchased the Hush I mainly for practice with headphones on whilst my wife was watching television and later at night after she had gone to bed. Being of small build and with small hands the instrument is fast becoming my favourite over my normal acoustic guitar. I did take it to have the action lowered and lighter phosphor bronze strings fitted to suit me.

I bought a Hush-I silent guitar. I really like it. I like the design l, it is quiet enough to play with headphones without annoying the family and sounds nice in an amp. The frets are smaller than an acoustic so some chords are easier to play, but It is taking some getting used to the strings being close together. I am very happy with it and definitely recommend. I should have bought one much sooner.

Just what I needed while I’m away working

I have many guitars. ...too many according to my wife.....but I saw this on YouTube and bought it on a whim. I won't probably use it for the sixties revival band I play in but for all other acoustic type gigs it'll be great. My other guitarist in the band pinched it off me so I've had to order a 2nd one ! Actually it gave me the chance to go for the pro model this time as this one has even more good things in it. If I could get away with it I might get the X model as well

Amazing travel guitar, fits under my boot floor in my car so I can always practice on the road. It's perfect for what I need it for. Headphones or amp at home it has a remarkable sound for such a compact instrument.

Not had much chance to play it yet but I like the feel of it and the build quality is good for the price. I mainly play acoustic guitar but need something to travel with, this is a neat package. Wish I had paid for a different delivery option though - less than impressed with Yodel.

Love it! Get to practice at odd hours without disturbing the family or neighbours. Sturdy, so I'm able to leave it out in easy reach in a house full of kids and dogs without fear of damage, which I cannot do with my expensive, wood acoustic instruments! Have practiced more in the past few weeks than I have in the past few years combined.

Great little travel guitar for the price no complaints and plays quite smoothly with quite a good acoustic sound, slightly tight action.

I’ve put it together and tuned it, plugged it through an amp and it sounds fantastic. I do work at a HMP,and this will be less bulky to take in. I think it’s great. I also travel on holiday with Ryanair but I think it will be difficult to get on the plane because of bag sizing and I bong fancy purring the bag in the hold !

Really impressed with the Donner Hush. It does have a beautiful acoustic sound and is a joy to play. Really well-engineered and exciting product, easy to record a good acoustic sound at home without having to worry about passing cars, barking dogs etc. there is a lot in the package to love, headphones, cloth, ingenious guitar/bag strap. Excellent travel guitar, just what I was looking for at a decent price

With its good quality case it fitted diagonally in an extra large suitcase which avoided Ryanair’s charges for extra baggage. It has acoustic strings which is a bonus and the action is easy to use. Its tone sounds fine to me as an acoustic player of 35 months standing. I wanted to be able to keep up my daily practice while abroad for 6 days and without disturbing other hotel guests. It fulfilled that purpose well. I have since purchased a link to enable it to connect to a standard guitar lead so I can use it with an amplifier. Its build quality does not disappoint.

Arrived quickly, great quality, good fun to play. I lowered the action and fitted Ernie ball 9's no drama. Can't believe how compact but usable it is. Playing through a positive grid Go makes it fun, as well as a 100W combo..!!!! Purchased to take away on holiday when we take a winter break. Supplied with strap, bag, tuner, picks, headphones. Super impressed and will consider other Donner products.

It was delivered on time as promised and well packed, so there was no damage. Everything works great; the only problem (soluble) is that the action is about 1.5mm high for me. I like the input feature for backing tracks.

Guitar is exactly what I wanted, small & easy to handle in tight spaces. Packaged nicely. Will purchase some better headphones but overall happy customer.

I lurked around this guitar for some time after seeing the far more expensive Yamaha version. I did a lot of research, as I’m not a “faddy” guitar player, however, you have to have some quirks in your guitar collection. Anyway, the reviews, both written and on YouTube, were more than favourable so I pulled the trigger. I have to say that the Hush 1 has absolutely fulfilled my expectations. It’s easy to assemble, has an easy tuning mechanism (although the purists may disagree), stays in tune and sounds absolutely like a pukka electro-acoustic guitar, which is what it is. I’m struggling to find any negatives if I’m honest, maybe not everyone would like its aesthetic, but don’t buy it if that’s a worry. I’d certainly recommend it.

I’m quite surprised how good this guitar is. Ultra light, really easy to handle and play. The finish is amazing. Still trying it but so far all good.

My first impression was wow, this looks even better in the flesh. It feels solid, well built and sounds great. The carry case is strong and i feel that it’ll take good care of it as i travel around. The action was too high on the nut and bridge, so a bit of setting up was initially required, and now it feels light and perfect for me. It’s such a great instrument to sit and play around with, and the earphones create a new dimension. I’ve yet to try the input jack. I have a couple of minor gripes, one is the need to have to screw in the frames. Although the too one pretty much holds itself in. With the bottom one in, i struggle to get comfortable with it’s position on my knee as it puts the guitar too far back. For the meantime I’ve been playing it without the bottom frame. My plan is to drill a hole further back once it’s out of warranty. Overall though, it’s a fabulous looking and sounding instrument and a great purchase which I’d recommend to anyone.

As an aging learner, the size, weight and portability of this guitar makes it ideal for lugging around to lessons. I love the minimalist look and feel of the instrument. Not wild about the tuning heads, as my Roadie tuner doesn't fit, so managed to snap the bottom E string when first tuning it up. Would have been good if it had a built in tuner, but the supplied tuner is a nice touch. Teams up well with a Spark Go mini amp. Not really a 'silent' guitar, well no more than a normal electric when unplugged. Only seems to work with small in-ear headphones. Tried my larger over-the-ear type, but got not sound out. Headphone socket is a little hard to get too with the metal game on, but sounds good through the supplied ear-buds. Would have preferred the same kind of frame assembly as the HUSH-X, as not sure how much life is in the hex screw assembly on the HUSH-I. All in all, I'm a fan, despite some very minor gripes.

Delivered quickly and with no fuss. Everything you need is in the box, and there is minimum set up. And then it just works really well. There are some clever design points - like the case step doubling up as a guitar strap. Love it

Just at the beginner level, bought this so I can take it away in our caravan, not ready to entertain the whole site. Takes a bit of use to get used to the size, but not long. Find it sounds good enough to practice without the headphones. With the headphones is really good especially playing along to something, being able to plug the phone into the guitar and merge both in headphones is really good. Size is brilliant for travelling, and yet everything is full size. For me, at my level, wanting a quiet travel guitar it is brilliant, very happy.

I've been playing guitars since I was 13 and now 72, I've had lots of guitars and must say I cannot belive how light it is and the action is incredible. This for me is a guitar way beyond the usual standard guitars today. I gigged with it at the weekend and it didn't once drop out of tune and you don't know its around your neck. I purchased this guitar for my husband.we had already prepared ourselves for the longggg wait till it's arrival...how wrong we were...four days after we ordered it; there it was sitting at my door with the delivery guy waiting to take a handover pic.The box had no bumps or tears and we thought things are going to easy lol but my husband opened the box and pulled out the guitar which was in a nice black bag it was really made well too as we're all the extra bits and bobs now came the best part he slowly opened the bag and there it was ..it was beautiful.could not find a fault or anything with the guitar.I have my own electric guitar but I'm just a new beginner and he won't let me near his guitars.he has gretch guitars..fender guitars.a steel guitar the same one mark knoffler played on money for nothing..and more.I still think mines is best.I have a gun that looks like a AK47 gun. Back to the silent guitar purchase. both of us would recommend buying this from Donner Music I will be honest I was a bit. Wary of buying from. I love my Donner Hush guitar it’s so light, portable and easy to play. I use mine in conjunction with a Spark 40 practice amp and for ultimate portability my Spark mini . This allows me to emulate different guitar tones and make my Hush sound like everything from a classic acoustic guitar to a blues/rock or even a heavy metal tone. It’s an ideal partnership of equipment.

They are birthday treats for two of the grandsons. They have shown a great interest in different style guitars. I thought these would be ideal for them as it will give them a different feel. I would recommend this to other guitarists.

A quick tune and it was good to go. What can I say - wow this is an impressive guitar. Solid, comfortable, great sounding. The case and accessories are also great quality. Worth every penny. Just wish I had bought the deal with the pedal now :((

Im really enjoying playing this travel guitar. it is compact and easy to carry. Easily assembled and good build quality. I like the sound from the earphones it is genuinley well balanced. The sound via a mini amp is equally pleasant. I recomend as a practice guitar wether you travel or not.

I love my new guitar. It is so quiet which is a good thing as my walls are so thin in my house and putting in the headphones I can go off into my own world playing. The build quality is good and overall really good for the money.

I like the concept, the compactness and the sound. Minus points are the weight - it is unexpectedly heavy - and the neck profile is uncomfortable. Instead of a "C" profile it's more of a "D". The advertisements say the tuning key is retained with a magnet, but there is no magnet.

Since buying my Donner Hush-i, I have played more guitar than in the last ten years put together; patterned with a Spark GO amp, it makes the perfect duo for life in a flat ..

The guitar absolutely sounds great but it has a minor defect in the jack input because sometimes it will not work that I need to re insert the input jack to the guitar to make it work. I don't know if Donner still has some after sales fix to this.

I bought this for my grandson. He’s eleven. We’ve had so much fun with it. He’s practicing his tunes from his school lessons, and made up a fab little riff of his own. Highly recommended.

I can only say that I am really very impressed and happy with this guitar. It feels and plays like a dream. Sounds incredible too.

Good travel guitar, acoustic so action a little high and no option to lower. Tuning a little awkward but ok, great amplified tone. Metal inserts necessary but boring to detach and won’t fit in case if not taken apart. Great quality case. Overall very pleased for the price!

I bought this guitar as I like unusual instruments. I already have a Yamaha SLG and a Hohner G3T. I got it directly from Donner using a discount code and it cost me £219. This included a case, a strap and a tuner. Batteries were supplied for the guitar pre-amp and the tuner. A small amount of assembly was needed in that the upper and lower frames needed to be fitted along with their end caps (if required). The screws and a suitable Allen key were in a small plastic bag in the case. Tuning the guitar also requires the use of an Allen key as it is difficult to exert enough force on the tuner barrels using fingers alone even with the very light 10 gauge acoustic strings fitted. I changed these to 11 gauge as these are my preferred gauge. The set up was pretty good as supplied. The nut slots were a little high so I corrected those. The action and neck relief were spot on and stayed the same after the change to thicker strings. The fret ends are well finished but strangely they stop short of the edge of the fingerboard. The fingerboard is therefore wider than it needs to be and this is my only real complaint with the guitar. The neck has a compound radius. Near the nut it is thicker on the bass string side but as you move up the neck it gradually changes so that at the upper end it is thicker on the treble string side. This felt strange at first but is no longer noticeable when playing. In use it sounds like a very clean acoustic guitar. With the EQ set flat it sounds a little thin for my taste but there is enough adjustment in the EQ to tailor the sound as needed. It is very light, it plays easily and, not surprisingly, draws a lot of attention. I have found that the lower frame securing screw needs frequent retightening which means the screw us working it's way into the wood and this may need some attention in the future. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase.

A surprisingly quality product! I was impressed from the moment I opened the box and noticed it to be well manufactured. Even the box was well designed with the guitar snugly protected. Now, the guitar itself feels substantial for an "empty" frame like that. I find the keyboard a little too thick to play. The neck nut width seems comfortable to play on whatever scales I fancy. I find the frets are narrower than usual so if you have large hands and fingers.... I find the tuning mechanism too fiddly with the allen key provided. I believe it might efficiently lock the tuning in while travelling. Personall I find regular tuning pegs more responsive. (a bit picky on my part). I have not try it yet with an amplifier but I have customise it with stick-on MOP fret markers and it looks fantastic! I ordered the black one so it is easy to spot smudges, I urge Donner to quality check these more closely before despatch. I should order the naural colour or bursted one on hindsight. With the metal bars attached to its body. I find it really sits on my lap well. GREAT! even the upper horn fits me down to a "T". What will they think of next? One criticism is the battery compartment should "mark" the polarity of the 9v battery clearly. It has none!!! Overall, not a perfect heavenly music maker but great value for its money. I can see this an a travel companion for my cruising trips. For future development I suggest a micro speaker built-in? Hey-ho, what do I know?

Have not yet had the pleasure of playing the guitar yet, as I bought it as a Christmas present for myself. but I have taken it out of the box to check its contents and the string action and tuning. All seems to be in order. The guitar and finish look excellent and I cannot wait to eventually play it come Christmas Day.

Just had to have this unusual but good locking guitar to add to the others I have. A Christmas present to me! I am very pleased that I went ahead with the purchase as it is a fine instrument and at a reasonable price for it's quality.

Great practice guitar, you can play quietly without any battery fitted (save's on battery drain), place battery in then plug headphones in to 3.5 headphone output good sound with some Beats, or feed an amp directly from the 1/4 jack. I use it with GarageBand works a treat with a 1/4 jack line in preamp to usb c output port which connects directly to my Mac Mini M2. Fretboard feels really smooth and i love the color and feel of the wood and the back of the fretboard. Managed to buy this while the Black Friday deals were on (saved £50)

Absolutely beautiful, first class. The service was first class and also the guitar is incredible out of this world. Brilliant design as the size and case represents the size of a violin . This guitar once you add the bits is absolutely brilliant with sound and playability. Looking forward to my next holiday where I will taking it as hand luggage.
