I have a number of synths including a Beringer td3-mo As a Scout leader I decided to run a music evening where Scouts could use my synths. The TD3 is very difficult to program but I saw a video showing the Donner B1 and bought one for the Scouts to use. It's fantastic and the new firmware is great. The Scouts loved it and two of them have asked their parents to buy one for them.

Great sound. Can really squelch once you have familiarised yourself with controls.. Lots of memory and very intuitive sequencer unlike other 303 inspired bass synths. Requires update to make use of new firmware with song mode. The ‘aux in’ allows me to use more devices with fewer cables which is important for tabletop jamming. My biggest criticism is that the type printed on the surface is black, thin and absolutely tiny. Impossible to read in low light and difficult to see at all. Other than that it’s an excellent bit of kit.

I spent a long time looking at the B1, but finally took the plunge when an offer was on. I like it a lot. It sounds lovely, and the step sequencer is really intuitive. You can get pleasantly lost in tweaking and manipulating the sound. Looks pretty well built too

So this little unit it a 303 clone. The most faithful? Probably not but for the ridiculously low price I paid I’d say it’s close enough that 99.9% of people wouldn't know (or care) yet I have a lot more cash in my pocket.
In short it sounds great. The overdrive it particularly nice – I’m not sure if that’s analogue or not but either way it sounds smooth and not harsh or overly bright. The delay is okay I guess, but you can reduce the time and increase the feedback to give a reverb kind of effect too which is useful.
I’m primarily using it to run from my Polyend Tracker that I use as a sequencer. I run the midi from the tracker into the B1 then use the midi out to run my Behringer synth. And it works flawlessly. This was crucial for me and my setup so obviously I was more than pleased I didn't have to faff about trying to get it to work.
One positive thing to note is that devs actually care about this product and have released several firmware updates not just to fix bugs but to add new features. The most recent update gave a song mode – something that I’ll probably never use but it’s reassuring to know that Donner care enough to keep updating this after the sale.
Overall I’m really impressed. I’m building a live guitar/synth setup and the B1 is tiny yet does everything I want. Hopefully we’ll see some more synthy products heading our way so I can spend the money I saved on this!
Finally I'll say I bought this out of my own money and it's not a sponsored post. There's quite a few that vids on youtube that have been given the unit to test...sadly I'm not one of those folk!

Very comparable to other ‘famous bass synths’ in sound but at a low price. Good connectivity with both usb and standard midi in/out. The keyboard is better, in my view, for hammering out percussive bass lines than a standard keyboard.
All in all, a great instrument for the price.

The B1 is a small, stylishly designed monophonic bass synthesizer. It has square and sawtooth waveforms, saturation and delay. It is capable of producing some subtle and some not-so-subtle bass tones that will enhance your music. I am pleased with my B1 and I recommend it to others who are looking fro a capable bass synthesizer.

One of the best Roland tb-03 clones I've ever come across extremely simple to use with a great sequencer. If you use a MIDI sequencer you can even use the Donner sequencer as well as your own creating like a dual sound. It has some great phat sounds in some ways better than the original and certainly better than the Behringer td3 and yet the price is ridiculous! I love it!

I love it... I've been collecting lots of 303 clones over the years ans this is right up there. Sounds great, super easy to programme and the on board effects are great too... Paid £99 for it in the Valentines Day sale and I dont regret it at all.. I might even get a second one.

A absolute, stunning, tiny instrument of joy. Rich and fat. I wish you made matching midi floor pedals so i could play it with my feet for live shows. The sound is thick.
